At Home with Clinique
Remember last month when I
? Well I brought all my goodies home and have been infusing them into my daily beauty routine, especially the
for contouring! The learning curve for contouring has been an interesting one. Even since I shot this I feel like I've gotten much better. #practicemakesperfect
When it comes to trying new beauty products I live by the motto: everyone's skin is different! Some products that people RAVE about have been horrendous on me and other items I swear by have been discontinued because there's not enough demand (hate when that happens!) It's super fun to experiment but also important to listen to your body/skin when it's saying "no thank you!" so that being said, here are a few tips + tricks plus some of the new products that are working for me:
My skin is very oily but also sensitive/acne prone, so it's important for me to have the right balance of products to keep oil/acne at bay and not agitate my skin. I've been incorporating Clinique's
into my daily routine ; it's super mild but effective. Another product I can't get enough of is their
take the day off cleansing balm
- you guys, this stuff is amaze. It's a makeup remover that you apply all of your face (while it's dry) - it's literally like putting chapstick all over - and then you wash it off. Honestly, the BEST stuff ever. It get's everything off your face and is so gentle. With all the other makeup removers out there it feels like you're stripping your face off or that it's not really doing the job at all.
is perfection + it's kind of fun to put on!
I've always been a tinted moisturizer girl as I love the lightweight feeling and minimal coverage, but lately I've been craving a little more coverage for events and photoshoots. I let
know this during my consult and she introduced me to Clinique's
beyond perfecting foundation + concealer
. Typically I'm skeptical of any 2 in 1 product but this product is fantastic. It's lightweight, leaves a matte finish, and has really really great coverage.
On of the most exciting things I discovered during my consult was their highlight + contour
. In the past I've tried powders but always felt like they never blended well enough and/or the contour color made me look ashy but these babies are my new best friend.
It's like coloring on your face! All you need is a contour brush to blend and you're good to go. One thing I've picked up since shooting this is making sure to blend up and angled vs. down and angled. This will make sure you're perking up those cheekbones instead of making them look extra sunk in and aging yourself!
Last
my wariness of lip color and Stephanie assured me that with tan skin you can pull of almost anything! I went bold for this look with a bright pink
- there's something about an over-the-top lip that adds confidence.
... and there you have it: my favorite new Clinique products that I've added to the arsenal. Always sharing my beauty faves (and other silly happenings) on snapchat! Follow me: pursuitofshoes.
