Hotel Diary: South Congress Hotel Austin
Austin Vacay Essentials
When we got the invite to our friend's Austin wedding a few months ago the first thing I said to Andy was " we have to add a few days to the weekend and explore Austin!" And that we did. We added 2 days to the trip and pretty much ate our way through the city (more on that on Thursday).
After a little recon on the interwebs I decided to book us at South Congress Hotel because, well, it looked cool AF. From what we had heard about Austin, South Congress is where all the cool kids hang out, so I knew I wanted to stay in that part of town. The hotel did not disappoint!
Photo diary
Location. Location. Location.
The hotel is super central to all things South Congress which made it super easy for us to explore everything in the area. You literally walk outside and you're hit with a wall (in a good way) of food options, boutiques, and Austin culture.
The Decor + Amenities
On point. It's has everything I expect in a hotel: a sleek modern look that feels approachable and not too stuffy. The vibe was v similar to the Pendry hotel in SD. I also really appreciate a good rooftop pool as one does. They have a fab bar with frozen drinks up there! aka Ashley's happy place.
The lobby is super spacious with a bar (legit happy hour M - Th), a seating area with outlets for early morning work sessions, and the most gorgeous decor. It's also connected to Cafe No Se where I ate a few delicious breakfasts.
And the rooms - definitely that modern feel with the open shower, super sleek wardrobe, and totally comfy. We loved it!
Customer Service
You guys, I don't consider myself a needy person but for some reason I had so many interactions with the front desk and bell staff while I was there - hah! Everything from getting our rental car from the valet, early check-in, "borrowing" a postage stamp and envelope, to asking if I can do a mini photo shoot in the hotel... they were so absolutely accommodating! And no, this isn't sponsored :)
Btw, get deets on this dress here. Stay tuned because my Austin Travel Guide is coming on Thursday. Hope you guys are having a good week!
