Before we got engaged I remember thinking, when will I KNOW? After 4+ yrs together we both knew our trajectory as a couple involved marriage but we were a little uncertain of the timeline. We had committed to each other as boyfriend + girlfriend which was great and lovely (we excelled in it, honestly!), however, the thought of THAT commitment… the FOREVER kind, seemed a little daunting. Then one day it happened. I knew it was coming TBH and afterwards Andy said that something just clicked and he wondered what took so long. Looking back, my “when will I know?” came and went quickly because it really all just came together. Here we are, newlyweds of 7 months, headed on a one month adventure abroad, and very committed… like, legally committed. Hah!

Super grateful to partner with Simon G Jewelry on their Committed campaign to share about what commitment means to us. It’s always a good day when I get to bring Andy to work and wear gorgeous diamonds! So many of you have been asking about my diamond ring on IG stories and this is it.

As we were shooting this on a rooftop in DTLA I asked Andy “what does commitment mean to you?” and without hesitation his response was “making sacrifices and being a partner no matter what.” So romantic, right? Hah! I love the part of the definition that states  whole-heartedly dedicated because I truly feel that’s what making a lifelong commitment really means, whether or not you make it legal in a marriage sense. It’s about selflessness. Now, decisions are made in the interest of US vs. me. And I wouldn’t have it any other way!

We’re off to Kenya, London, and Miami for a month and this is going to be another journey in our relationship. After 7+ months of marriage I’m so excited for what the future holds for us and I imagine we’ll look back at this post after different life events + challenges and our definition of commitment will have expanded immensely.
