We're Married!

Sitting at the airport with insanely mixed emotions. My heart is SO full from the most incredible weekend and at the same time I am SO sad it’s all over. As many of my bride-to-be’s and recently married gals can attest to, there’s so much work that goes into planning a wedding and it goes by in a blink of an eye. I received tons of DM’s about making sure to step back and take it all in; Andy and I really tried our best to do so. I left my phone in the room for the entire weekend (literally THE best feeling in the world) and lived in every moment.

I’m getting teary eyed just thinking about how magical it was… truly an epic weekend with all of our favorite people celebrating our love and commitment to each other. Andy woke up on Sunday and said he felt like a Prince which was the cutest statement ever. We are both still basking in the glow and energy of the entire thing!

Ahh you guys, I can’t wait to see the pictures/vids and to share all the things with you. We’re already re-living everything via the few sneak peeks our photogs Gina + Ryan sent over on Sunday. As I look at the few pics we've already received and think back to when we first started planning, I remember how hard it was to nail down our "theme" when initially talking to our planner Amy Abbott. Hard because I wanted the vibe to be US ... a little boho, a little glam, a lot of fun, not too stuffy or serious but also not silly. Most importantly: tropical vibe but NOT tiki. And I remember just listing all these things out for her and thinking to myself  "man, I hope she understands what I mean" and boy did she. Our wedding captured the essence that is A + A and we couldn't be happier with how it all turned out. Just WAIT until you see everything - TOO excited!

I wanted to write a post on my pre-wedding feelings but needles to say things were a bit hectic last week. I was never nervous about marrying Andy because after 6 years together this is the natural next step. I definitely felt a lot of pressure around throwing an event for 100 people... hoping everyone enjoyed themselves, liked the food, music, etc. and that everything logistically worked out.  We had a lot of Cabo skeptics going into the weekend and I'm happy to say we proved them wrong ;)

The one irrational thought I had the two weeks leading up to our wedding was that something bad was going to happen to one or both of us. Not kidding, every time I got in an Uber or walked across the street I would have flashes of the worst case scenario resulting in us not being able to get married. It was terrible! It wasn't until we landed in Mexico that I finally was like "okay, the coast is clear!"

I wrote a post back in the beginning stages of planning about the roller coaster of emotions that come with all this wedding business, and now that I’ve been through it I can definitely speak to stage 5 . Stage 5 has two parts:

  1. About 2.5 weeks before your wedding you're just hemorrhaging money. Last minute details, rush shipping/orders... almost everything can be solved by throwing cash at it and that's exactly what happens.

  2. At around 5 days before your wedding you just throw your hands up and start giving zero effs. If you don't have that feeling, I highly suggest trying to get there because it means you'll be WAY more relaxed going into the weekend and really get to enjoy everything. The Wednesday before our wedding I basically just said “alright, there’s nothing else that can be done at this point so hopefully it will all run smoothly” and really went into the weekend with that kind of mindset so that I could take in ALL the moments. It helped that our wedding planner Amy Abbott was THE BEST. When I walked into our welcome reception and saw my vision come to life I was like “yup, she’s got this - ZERO worries for the next two days!”

Now that we’re married we’re both so smitten by the fact that we can say “oh my husband/wife” and are counting down the days until our honeymoon. I'm really trying my best to keep busy before our honeymoon so I don't fall into post-wedding blues but man, after the honeymoon I know I'm going to be a sad wifey!

I’ve got TONS of wedding posts coming but I know there’s a bunch of you looking to get married in Los Cabos, so here are a list of my vendors who I would recommend 110% - they all went above and beyond and we were SOOO happy with everything:
