5 Products I Bought in My First Trimester

It’s a little crazy to be writing this in that the first trimester felt like it took forever (read about that emotional rollercoaster here) but also went so quickly at the same time! So far I haven’t purchased too much as it relates to pregnancy or baby; trying to take it slowly because I know ALL THE THINGS will be filling our place in a few months. Also just over here waiting for belly to pop. Figuring out my “pregnancy” style is something I’m excited/ a little nervous about but we’ll see what happens. P.S: if you’re expecting and or a mama, don’t forget about our EDP MAMAS facebook group. There’s tons of helpful info being shared - it makes me so grateful for our community.

Here are the five things I purchased in my first trimester:

  1. Bio-Oil Skincare Oil: honestly just want to bath myself in this stuff. After doing all the googling and chatting with recently pregnant mamas, this product seemed to be #1 on the stretch mark prevention list. TBH, there’s not scientific evidence that stretch marks can be prevented (it’s V hereditary) but I find it hard to believe that keeping your belly, bum, boobs, and thighs moisturized can’t help a little. I’ve honestly been using on my legs and elbows too, to combat dry winter skin.

  2. Blanqi Maternity Support Leggings: this brand has insane ad targeting because the second I found out I was pregnant I was getting targeted by their products left and right. I bought these after a day of feeling like my pants were no longer going to fit. Now that I look back I was just really bloated and prob could’ve saved this purchase for my second trimester but either way I think they are great to have in the maternity arsenal. They are relax around the house, throw a big sweater on type of leggings. I wouldn’t work out in them. Looking forward to see how they support the belly as it grows.

  3. Expecting Better by Emily Oster: this was my FIRST purchase as soon as I found out I was pregnant and it has been my BIBLE! Emily Oster is an economist who used data and research to break down/debunk all the do’s and don’ts of pregnancy. It’s been insanely helpful in guiding me to make the right decisions for baby and myself. Things like: can I eat sushi? Fun fact: I am! There’s discussions on everything from weight gain and bed rest, to laying on your back and epidurals. I honestly think it’s a must for any modern mama!

  4. Ritual Prenatal Vitamins: They are kind of like the valet of prenatal vitamins. Two capsules, once daily = 12 key nutrients to help support my nutrient needs during pregnancy including DHA and Methylated FOLATE + B12 which are BIG ones on the OB list. Can’t recommend enough. EDPfam gets 10% off their first three months with code TORRES

  5. The Expectant Father: I bought this book for Andy after hearing from other moms-to-be that it’s the best one out there for dads. TBH, he’s only in to month 4 but so far it seems to be helpful.

Sending you mamas lots of love in this new year. xoxo - Ash
