Why Every Mama-To-Be Needs a Bump Bestie in Their Life

The first time I met Molly (founder of Bump Bestie) she said to me “You hire a wedding planner for your big day, why would you not hire a baby planner to help for what will probably be the biggest life changing event ever?” IT. MAKES. SO. MUCH. SENSE! The core of Bump Bestie is helping busy families prepare for one of life’s most important journeys but I truly look at their service as part expert, part best friend; someone who can help guide you through a never ending list of baby products, help navigate the 4th trimester team, and be a sounding board for everything in between.

Hear me out: now that I’m halfway through my pregnancy one of my biggest takeaways is that everyone has their own opinion on baby gear, postpartum help, classes, and everything else that comes along with parenthood. It’s so great to be able to lean on mom friends to get candid 411 on products or parenting tips but the reality is that they can only share their personal preferences based on their own experience. Not to mention the number of hours that can be spent on google researching ALL.THE.THINGS. Between the two you can be hit with decision paralysis. I have also been reminded that a lot of the decisions friends make are 100% for the well being of their children but ultimately have a financial component tied to them. And like everything in life, no two budgets are the same.

Enter Bump Bestie: your non-biased bestie and personalized google ALL IN ONE! At 25 weeks, we’ve just started deep diving into our work together but I already feel like every mama-to-be needs a Bump Bestie in their life. You can check out their services + menu here. They can do as little as review your registry to as much as create the ultimate baby game plan for you! Btw, EDPfam gets 10% off any service with code EDP10.

Over the next few months here’s what Bump Bestie is helping us with:

  • Baby Registry: create registry, parse through post-baby shower gifts for any must-haves and advise on returns

  • Provide Ashley + Andy with must buys (outside of registry items): hospital bag, baby, mama (ie: postpartum care, etc.)

  • Guide Ashley + Andy to creating the best 4th trimester team: lactation consultant/ doula / night nurse based on family budget

  • Provide local recs for part-time nanny and help define the role

  • Nutrition: suggest meal plan programs, recipes to prep, etc.

  • Act as sounding board for daycare options + provide locals recs

  • Suggest local Mommy groups for Ashley to check out

  • Provide recs for any additional classes or online courses to take: ie: takingcareababies, etc.

No joke, I just got our baby registry and a) was so overwhelmed by everything on it (how can someone so small need so many things!?) b) breathed a sigh of relief that I didn’t have to research and investigate ALL of those items to add to the registry. Having her expertise has been so clutch!

Bump Bestie works with families all over the country and if you’re local to LA or SF, they can do in-person meetings and consultations. We did a stroller shopping morning with them a few weeks ago and it was SO helpful/ funny to watch Andy geek out over baby gear. Check out the deets on my Baby Gear highlight on Instagram.

Stay tuned - we are working on some really great blog posts together that will hopefully be so so helpful for your baby prep!

xx - Ashley
