Luna's Cabana Club: 4th Birthday Pool Party
Feels like just yesterday we were celebrating baby girl’s 1st birthday and here we are wrapping up her 4th! My heart can’t handle how fast these years are going. Over the weekend we threw a pool party bash to celebrate 4, Luna’s Cabana Club if you will. You’d think I was a party planner in my previous life based on the joy I get from concepting and executing a party! This one was extra fun because I feel like Luna’s finally at an age where she understands what’s happening - seeing her face when she walked in was so so special. Keep scrolling for all the snaps and details. I’ve included everything from my initial Pinterest board, links to every decor piece, canva designs, and run of show in hopes that this helps you plan your next pool party extravaganza!
When it comes to kids’ parties I always aim to entertain the kids but really make it adult friendly because parents are more likely to enjoy themselves and stay the entire time! Since Luna is a summer baby, a pool party felt right plus the pool IS the activity and requires way less “stuff” to keep the kids occupied and entertained. Once we decided on our venue, I started with a Pinterest board to ideate colors + decor. Between Pinterest and Canva, becoming your own party planner has never been easier!
RUN OF SHOW
Party 11:00am - 3:00pm
11:00am Arrival + Snacks (charcuterie plate, fruit plate, sushi platter)
12:00pm Lunch (see menus below)
1:30pm Cake + Sing Happy Birthday
3:00pm Party Ends
VENDORS + LINKS
Private Pool Venue: Calamigos Ranch (they took care of all food, drinks, towels, + basic set-up)
Cake: Cake Queen LA
Custom Cabana Club Sign (font: Poiret) - I used this glue to put it on the arch cover
Balloon Set-up: Created This Events (serving LA + OC)
Spotify Playlist (heads up there are some songs in there that some parents might think are not kid friendly)
I really didn’t anticipate how much of a hit these pool floats would be. The kids were obsessed with the Large Pool Float and it provided a mini pool of sorts, which gave the parents much needed breaks. Most of the kids at this age are not proficient swimmers and these float rings actually helped them be independent in the water (with parents supervision, of course) because they come in small sizes that make it almost impossible for the kids to slip out of!
When it came to the food menus, I created all of them on Canva. I found a pre-designed template and swapped out the colors to make it “on brand” for our Cabana Club. I think they turned out soo cute! See template links below.
My friends were joking that we should save the “Cabana Club” sign for her 16th birthday. We shall see!
Instead of doing gift bags because, let’s be real these kids have enough stuff, I bought sunnies + bubble wands for each kid to use at the party. And if they wanted to, they could to take one pool float home when they left! That was also part of my plan to make clean-up easier hah. More videos and party fun are saved to the 4th birthday highlight on my Instagram. xx - Ash
