Weekend Packing List: Traveling With an Infant Under 6 Months
Gahh, it feels SO good have our first trip under our belt! I’m not one to get crazy anxious about things but I would be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous about taking our 5 month old on her first weekend getaway. And you know what? She was a champ! And now I feel like we can go anywhere!
I think we can all agree that for such tiny humans it is INSANE how much gear babies need. Below is the baby packing list we used for our recent trip to Palm Spring. Keep scrolling for deets on items we could’ve potentially left out, must-haves, and more.
To keep in mind: this is was for a driving distance trip and our daughter was not eating solids yet .
There’s a few ways you could potentially consolidate:
if you breast feed, decide not to pump while away (works for some but not others)
instead of bring bottle warmer use a coffee mug and hot water
instead of bringing a monitor leverage monitor apps on your phone
just bathe baby in a bathtub or sink without the baby bath
Personally I felt good with everything we brought above especially the baby bath. It doesn’t take up that much room since you can fill it with other packing essentials.
This pop-up tent is LIFE - you can see it in action on my BABY GEAR highlight on Instagram. I highly suggest getting the blow up mattress to go along with it because then it can double as your play mat when you travel. Ex: we had the mattress inside for tummy time then brought it outside to put in pop-up tent for outdoor hangs.
I’m also really glad I picked up the Oxo bottle washing kit because it came in so handy.
Some type of black out shade is necessary. There are re-usable options like this one or the paper shades. I know a lot of mamas also love the slumber pod. Since we are in the midst of COVID I don’t see us traveling very much but will probably invest in one eventually.
P.S: definitely don’t forget ziploc bags for blow out damage!
Can’t believe our baby girl is 4! We threw her the cutest Cabana Club pool party to celebrate. Tap through for all the party details.
