3rd Trimester Update: Baby Girl is Coming Soon!
shout out to Love + Water for capturing these special moments in Hawaii + the amazing Kasia Kulenty for this dress
Holy moly the last 39 weeks literally FLEW. It feels like just yesterday I found out I was pregnant and here we are about to meet our little girl in a matter of days. If you’ve been following the journey on IG stories then you know that pregnancy has treated me very well and I am so extremely grateful. I had a conversation with the EDPfam on stories a few weeks ago that sometimes I find myself down playing how great pregnancy has been for me since I know that many people do not experience the same, but then I realized that we all have our own story and we should own our journey. Also, TBH, I feel like I always hear more about the pregnancy horror stories than positive ones, so maybe it’s time for people like myself to speak up in case it brings comfort to someone who is thinking about this next step in their life and nervous about what that my look like. Keep scrolling for some of my fave pregnancy perks, deets on weight gain, what I’m nervous about and more on the last three months.
I’ve enjoyed pregnancy so much that my hubby jokes I should look into surrogacy. If I could pay someone to make a pill form of whatever hormones are running through my body right now I would do it; it’s just balanced me out in a way I never knew was possible. A few perks:
balanced emotions; no extreme highs or lows
the best skin I’ve ever had in my entire life
guilt free ice cream + frosted flake binges
ZERO leg hair
endless energy (for the most part) and a “get sh*t done” mindset like I’ve never experienced
a new love + bond with the hubs
plump EVERYTHING; just love these 🍈🍈, my lips, and 🍑
feeling the kicks of the human I have been growing for 9 months
it feels like my birthday EVERY DAY because people are so nice to me
The lack of morning sickness was a blessing but it definitely put me on an emotional roller coaster those first few months (read more about that here). Also let’s not forget COVID! Among other things, this bump has not seen any other humans aside from my husband in the last 3 months which is kind of wild. We missed out on our baby shower and just a lot of those special moments that come with the last few months of pregnancy (baby #2? haha!). On the bright side, Andy and I have had SO much time together that I don’t think we’ll ever look back and say “man, I wish we had more time just us 2 before baby came!” and the extra time in the house has helped us get SUPER prepared for baby.
HOW FAR ALONG?
39 weeks exactly! Went to the doc yesterday and she thinks baby girl will be late, possibly the week of June 8th. (2nd trimester update can be found here)
WEIGHT GAIN/ FOOD AVERSIONS OR CRAVINGS?
25 lbs. of baby goodness! I’ve had some DM’s asking about my diet and exercise routine since I got pregnant and it really hasn’t changed much since pre-pregnancy (deets on that here). I 100% lost weight in the beg of my pregnancy because I stopped drinking (lush, party of 1 over here!) In general I’ve definitely been allowing myself more treats than I would normally aka ice cream but not going crazy. Since COVID I started doing the Tone-it Up Prenatal workouts 2-3x per week and we are doing 2 mile walks at least 3-4x per week. Just trying to stay active and keep the body moving!
MATERNITY CLOTHES?
I’ve been trying really hard to shop my closet as much as possible and have only purchased a few maternity pieces: these amaze bike shorts and leggings. Sharing all my bump style looks over on IG under the #EDPbumpstyle if you’re looking for inspo. You hear it a lot from preggers gals “the body is amazing” and I have to say it really is. Watching my body change these last 10 months has been a wild ride and maybe it’s the hormones (it prob is) but I’ve never felt more beautiful and confident.
Btw, here are 5 Products I Bought in my First Trimester + 5 Products I bought in my Second Trimester. Working on a third trimester recap because that one is really a doozy since it’s all BABY things!
SLEEP?
My hips have definitely gotten more sore as the weeks progress. I’ve found that sleeping with a pillow between my legs and my big stuffed animal hippo around my belly works best. TBH, the pregnancy pillow I got awhile big stays on the couch. It’s great for watching TV but just too much for the bed!
BABY MOVEMENT?
All. the. time! Girl is dancing up a storm in there.
WHAT I’M NERVOUS ABOUT?
Those first few weeks with baby girl! Because of COVID we won’t have any visitors or help. I know we’ll get through it but there’s just so much unknown. Manifesting a chill babe who loves to breastfeed and sleep - hah!
Also a little nervous about what my emotions and mental health may be once the baby comes. I 100% realize I have been riding high on the preggers hormones running through my body which makes me a little concerned that the postpartum blues and/or depression could hit really hard. Just going to take it day by day.
ONE UNEXPECTED THING ABOUT PREGNANCY?
To be honest, I had ZERO expectations about pregnancy which is partially why I think it’s treated me so well. I will say I never expected the EDP Mamas community that has grown during this time - it feels SO amazing to know we have each other as a resource.
Can’t believe our baby girl is 4! We threw her the cutest Cabana Club pool party to celebrate. Tap through for all the party details.
