10 Postpartum Wardrobe Must-Haves To Survive the First Month
It’s been two weeks since our little Luna arrived and to be honest, recovery has been much better than I had anticipated! We’re enjoying all the newborn snuggles, poops, and everything in between. Over the last 14 days I’ve pretty much worn 10 things on repeat and plan to continue for the foreseeable future; mama has NOWHERE to go (thanks, Covid!). Anywho, thought I’d share my faves and why I’ve been loving each:
Solly Wrap: baby accessory? More like the perfect shirt - hah. Luna LOVES being solly’d on both myself and Andy. For us mama’s it’s easy to just wrap over a nursing bra and tah-dah: hands-free snuggles with your little one. I’ve also found that you can keep it wrapped (baby has to come out) when nursing so that you don’t have to re-tie everything again - win win!
Blanqi Postpartum Belly Support Shorts: After living in Blanqi’s maternity biker shorts I was super excited to see they launched postpartum shorts the week before Luna was born (adds to cart ASAP!) They are SUPER comfy and provide great compression on the tummy. TBH, I’m just so happy that biker shorts are having a moment in fashion right now because it makes it super easy for us mamas to be comfy and feel put together all at the same time.
Free People Daydream Button Down: this is a top I wore a bunch with biker shorts during my pregnancy. It’s SO comfy - the fabric is similar to the Parachute cloud cotton robe and you’ll just want to live in it. I wore this for prob 3 days straight, sans bra when we got home from the hospital.
Nursing Bra 3 Pack: bless the price of these! These nursing bras came highly recommended from some of my mom friends and they offer great support, easy access, and for the price I could care less if milk leak on them or spit up gets all over ‘em.
Parachute Cloud Cotton Robe: I’ve pretty much been sleeping in this robe over my Frida Mom undies and nursing bra. Easy access + comfy AF… do we need anything else?
Belly Bandit Mother Tucker Leggings: OBSESSED with these leggings. The compression is AMAZING. Definitely tighter than the Blanqi shorts but comfortable enough to wear all day. I’ve only been able to wear my belly wrap for short period of time (it’s just so tight!) so these leggings have been my go-to. My friend who had baby in May said she’s been loving these from Amazon. The price is a lot more digestible although I haven’t tried them to compare - just wanted to share!
Frida Mom Disposable Underwear: these have been amazing because they aren’t thick or bulky and you can honestly just wear them as is without any other bottoms on top and still feel like you’re wearing cute little grey booty shorts. Mine came in the Frida Mom Postpartum Recovery kit, but TBH I didn’t use anything else in the kit since the hospital sent me home with so many goodies. Next babe I would just buy the individual pack of these to have.
Aerie Cropped Tank: two words: EASY ACCESS. I actually bought these tanks during my pregnancy because I just wanted cute crop tops. When I shared on social a new mama said crop tops and sweatshirts are PERFECT for breastfeeding because you just lift and TAH DAH. Ain’t that the truth!
Belly Bandit Luxe Wrap: definitely love how tight this thing is but I honestly can’t wear it more than an hour or so. Taking it day by day but happy to have it even if it’s just for a few hours a day. The changes I’ve seen in my belly just in a two week time span is pretty epic. It’s true what they say: our bodies are incredible!
Aerie Cropped Sweatshirt: perfect for those cuddly evenings. Easy access and so so cozy!
Hope this helps you with your postpartum prep! And maybe makes you feel a little more like you in those blissfully crazy weeks after baby arrives. xx - Ashley
