Playing Makeup with Clinique
A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of stopping by the Clinique counter for a consultation. To be honest, I've always wanted to go to a beauty counter and ask all my skincare and makeup questions but the thought seemed extremely daunting, so I was super excited when Clinique invited me to meet with a brand specialist.
Stephanie, my Clinique consultant, was such a doll! We hit it off instantly and all of a sudden all my Qs and skin issues just started flowing:
- I'm scared of wearing lip color
- How do I manage my acne prone skin and anti-aging at the same time?
- I'm almost 30, how did this happen and does that mean my skincare routine should change?
- Should I be contouring like a Kardashian?
- Toner, Moisturizer, Serum... what comes first?
None of it is really that complicated and yes, I feel like most of the answers are in magazine or online, but something about a human interaction is so necessary when it comes to face stuff. Right? No joke I was there for 1.5 hours and it was magical... like we were having a sleepover and playing with all of our mom's makeup! And I left with some great takeaways:
- tan skintones can wear almost ANY lipcolor but the easiest to try are berry hues - I went with "wow pop"
- for oily skin instead of regular moisturizer try a moisturizing gel - GENIUS!
- contouring seems much easier with Clinique's chubby sticks - I'm used to using powder contour which never blends well.
We of coursed played up the bronze because you know I love me some bronze. Steph agreed that you can never have too much bronzer!
Such a blast! I also got to bring home some goodies, including the 3-step skincare program, which I feel like is so necessary now that I'm almost 30 (ugh it pains me to type!). Time to get serious about skincare!! If you've been following on snapchat (pursuitofshoes) then you may have seen my attempts at contouring... slowly but surely it's getting better. I'm testing out all my new products and will share some feedback soon! If anything, this experience has taught me not to be scared to go ask Qs at the beauty counter - so much less daunting than it looks. #ipromise
